Cloud Performance Engineer

About the platform team

The industry that we operate demands low latency and high throughput systems and this is the overriding remit of the platform team. All systems must guarantee certain performance levels and, as such, the infrastructure utilised is critical to achieving SLAs.

As a Cloud performance engineer on the Platform team you will be tasked with building and maintaining the infrastructure that our business is hosted on. Currently we run solely on Microsoft Azure and use a mixture of IaaS and PaaS offerings, but there is scope to change this in the future. We try to automate any process that will be repeated and this expectation is carried through to any cloud Infrastructure/Services that we consume.

Currently there is no specialist Cloud position within Banach so upon joining you will be given a lot of leeway to define a roadmap, but among other things, we would expect you to:

  • Contribute to building our core platform infrastructure and tooling

  • Work closely with software engineers to diagnose and solve problems

  • Be an active member of our on-call rotation for the platform team

  • Build or choose monitoring tools to help facilitate platform monitoring & diagnostics

  • Measure and optimise performance of our platform

  • Automating everything!

About you

  • Passionate about technology and sport

  • Exposure to managing cloud platforms (preferably Azure)

  • Hands on experience in one or more programming/scripting languages

  • Experience building monitoring dashboards and defining relevant system metrics

  • Passionate about producing metrics to drive improvement

  • Strong communication skills - need to be able to get your opinion across effectively

Nice to haves

  • Experience within the Sports betting industry

  • Experience working with Windows Server

  • Experience managing security concerns within a cloud environment

  • Understanding of DevOps and how to support large scale distributed systems
